Love—Deep Thoughts on Valentine’s Day

February 14 is called Valentine’s Day. It is an annual celebration of love between a man and a woman. On this day, lovers, especially the man usually sends gifts to his or her sweat-heart. The gifts may be chocolate, diamonds, flowers and etc. Roses are most common.
So, at the mention of Valentine’s Day we think of love. But, what is love? People of different ages have different understanding towards it.
If you’re a boy or a girl, love means that you only love her or him. There is every chance that you will meet a better girl or boy. But since you have met her or him, you will not want anyone else. You just want to spend the rest life with her or him despite her or his shortcomings. You deeply cherish the chance of staying together. You are very eager to get married with her or him as early as possible.
After marriage, you stay together day and night. What is love at this time? In my opinion, love is the share of daily housework, salaries, joy and sadness; love is the common care of your children, seeing him or her happily growing day by day; love is the mutual help of the other’s undertaking, parents and relatives; love is that in your eyes, your spouse is the prettiest woman or the most handsome man in the world despite the gradual loss of her or his youth, beauty and figures.
So, we can say, love is a kind of responsibility. You’re responsible for your spouse’s life, happiness, health and well-being. In addition, as a parent, you’re responsible for your child or children’s healthy growth together with your spouse.
With time passing by, you are becoming older. What is love now? Love means dependence on each other. Now you’re becoming weaker and weaker. Your spouse may get seriously ill and without your care, he or she cannot live on. At this time, you are the strong one for him or her to rely on. You have no other choice. Everyone is doomed to die. Love means you wish you could take care of your spouse during his or her whole life. You prefer to leave the world later just to take care of him or her in this world. You wish you two leave this world at the same time.
